Catching Up

September was a month of birthdays in my family. My younger sister, Linda turned 25 (she can now rent a car), I turned 27, my younger brother is now 19, and our little nephews, Dylan turned 1 and Elijah turned 5.

For my birthday, I enjoyed a usual crowd of fun friends out at dinner then a comedy club afterwards. We sat up front asking to be picked on. It was a night of African American comedians who gave us no mercy. They all had something to say about a group of Asians who look lost in the crowd or the two students who were forced to be there by their professor. Turned out to be a great show with many ghetto jokes we were all too familiar with….hahaha….

That weekend, we also went to the bay area and had dinner with family. We strolled through the Moon festival fair in Chinatown. Gosh, I don’t remember the last time we were around so many Chinese people and how not any time soon again. There has got to be a chinese translation for "excuse me". The streets were blocked off and cars were forced to find detours. Vendors set up booths, games, stages, merchandise, and cashiers on the streets to gather customers’ money and/or contact for junk mail. Most of all, plenty of moon cakes of all shapes, sizes, designs and colors but nothing like freshly baked from local bakeries.

On our way home on Sunday night, we got invited over to a friend’s apartment in Emeryville for dinner and gourmet pizzas. Food turned out great with homemade mango salsa (better than Costco)! Guys in aprons were exactly what I had in mind for my birthday…haha…. Thanks Carey and Greg! We’ll see you guys again soon!
