Back on the Road
Here I go again to Portland. My company has an office in Portland and is going through tough times with sudden turnover in personnel. I took the opportunity to explore the city once again. My co-worker and I didn't get to do as much as we did last time but we made the best of it. It rained early part of the week but cleared up nicely for our visit to the local gardens and the flight home.
We ditched work early Thursday afternoon and headed downtown to the Portland Classical Chinese Garden. A Ming-style urban garden with winding walkways, bridged lake and beautiful open pavilions.
Afterwards my co-worker craved wonton soup and no better place to get it than old Chinatown just around the corner.
With our soup, we trotted up the mountain side to the serene Portland's Japanese Garden featuring five garden styles: Tea Garden, Strolling Pond Garden, Natural Garden, Sand and Stone Garden, and Flat Garden. The late afternoon was a perfect and peaceful time to visit the gardens with little to no crowds, noises, or stress.

I've been to Portland at least 50 times and never seen the Gardens or Cinatown...silly family always distracting me from the sites. Thanks for the great pics - I'm going to check it out next time I'm there.
